Cindy Pierce: The Last Laugh is a half hour documentary following the personal and professional journey of Cindy Pierce, an Etna, New Hampshire innkeeper and mother of three, as she embarks on a career as a comedian.

NECN's Barbara MacLeod gives viewers a poignant, up-close look at the challenges Pierce faces as she takes her one-woman show to new heights.

Since 2005, Pierce has been on a mission to bring laughter to taboo topics that ordinarily make people squirm, like the realities of pregnancy, and keeping your marriage exciting.

Her honest, autobiographical stories provide comic relief and her stage show is a hit in New England. But can she make it on a bigger stage?

The suspense builds as Pierce navigates the fickle world of show business while trying to keep her family life a priority.

This quintessentially New England character — straightforward, self-deprecating and doggedly determined — makes the task of balancing motherhood, a family business, and professional storytelling entirely entertaining.

But, the film is much more than just a funny half hour. It is an honest portrayal of a woman in midlife going for her dream while trying to be true to herself.
